This spring the Northland Collaborative ran our first community course, a 10-week poetry workshop led by Dr. Cynthia Belmont. We’re following that up with our week-long sailing course in the Apostle Island with Dr. Tom Fitz (Geology), Dr. Gus Smith (Ecology), and Dr. Emily Macgillivray (History and Native American Studies). We’re now soliciting proposals for future community courses. Do you have a specialty or deep well of knowledge you’d love to share with the Chequamegon Bay community? This is your time to shine!
For this first formal “rollout,” we are focusing on classroom or seminar-style courses. Think: literature discussions, philosophical topics, history deep-dives, writing workshops, language circles, etc.
Eventually we will be able to offer field-based and creative-experiential courses (getting out into the woods, onto the water, into the studio, or some other cool location). If you have a field-based course in mind, please submit it now. We want to see those ideas and work with you to make them possible as we expand our capacity.
Formats: Classes will be open to the community and take place in-person in the Chequamegon Bay area. Most classes will be either weekend intensives or 1 night/week for a series of weeks.
Fill out an Instructor Interest Form. Tell us what you want to teach and why it belongs in the Northland Collaborative.
